    My Summer Holiday

During the last summer holiday, I spent most of my time on an English course. It took me about a month to complete. I have learnt a lot of vowels and consonants that are different from the one I learnt from my school. The one I learnt from school are symbols and the one I learnt from the course are English alphabets. So, I can spell some difficult words without using electronic dictionary. Also, my writing skill is also improved after the course. Besides, the teacher Miss Gallant who came from Canada becomes my friend and we exchange our e-mail address.

In the summer holiday, I also did a lot of homework and did some revision. Unluckily, my grandmother went into the hospital for a few days. So, I have visited her twice.

I also had some recreational activities during the summer holiday. I often swam and played football with my friends. Moreover, I had a barbecue with my primary schoolmates. We talked a lot of things that in the secondary school. We haven’t seen for a long time and their faces have changed very much. But we are all very happy to have this barbecue. At home, I had spent a little time on watching television and playing computer games.

Among all my summer holidays, this is the busiest one. I had to do a lot of homework and spend time on doing revision for the HKCEE. Although I just have very little time to play, I think it is good for me.

Is it good to be the only child in the family?

In Hong Kong, parents often have only one child in the family. They think that they have not enough time and money to have two or more children. Is it good? In my opinion, it is better to have two children in the family.

Firstly, the children will be more bored if they have no sister or brother. When the children are very young, they need to play more so that they can have a happy childhood. If there are two children in the family, they can play together. They can learn how to communicate and cooperate with others. Also, it can make them easier to adapt to the school life when they begin schooling.

Secondly, children can study with his brother or sister. It makes studying more interesting. Besides, children can chat with each other and share their experience at school. It is good because children may not want to talk with their parents about some topics.

Thirdly, I want to share one benefit that I gain because of my elder sister. As I am a boy having a sister, I can understand females better. I have lived with my sister for more than ten years, I understand more about her ways of thinking. It helps me to communicate with girls easier.

In addition, parents may expect the only child more and it will increase the stress of the child. It may eventually make the child hates his parents.

Someone may say that being the only child in the family can get more love from the parents. I think it is not true if there are not too many children in the family. In my experience, with two children, my parents love me and sister so much and I don’t think their love is reduced.

In short, we can conclude that being the only child in the family can’t benefit more. Moreover, having a sister or brother make your life happier and make you learn more.
